A-Level Results 2026: Your Complete Guide to Navigating What’s Next
Tomorrow at 2.30pm, many of you will receive your A-Level results.
As a teacher, here’s what I want you to remember first:
Your grades matter — but they do not define your future.
Take a deep breath. Whether you’re celebrating or recalibrating, this guide will walk you through:
✅ The new 70-point University Admission Score (UAS) system
✅ How to calculate your score
✅ University application timelines
✅ What to consider when choosing courses
✅ 2026 Open House dates and how to get there
✅ Key IGP links for NUS, NTU and SMU
The New A-Level University Admission Score (70 Points)
For students applying in 2026 onwards, universities now use the updated 70-point UAS system.
📌 What Counts?
Your score is calculated based on:
Best 3 H2 content subjects → 20 points each (Max 60)
H1 General Paper (GP) → 10 points (Max 10)
👉 Maximum score = 70
❗ What Changed?
Project Work (PW) is now Pass/Fail only
Mother Tongue (MTL) does not normally count
4th H2 / additional H1 subjects may only be considered in special circumstances
For most students:
UAS = Best 3 H2 + GP

How to Strategically Rank Your Choices
You have 8 choices.
A good structure:
2 aspirational
3 realistic
3 safer options
But beyond IGP, ask yourself:
✔ What do I genuinely enjoy?
You will spend 3–4 years studying this.
✔ What are my strengths?
Are you analytical? Creative? People-oriented?
✔ What is the teaching style?
Seminar-based (SMU style)?
Large lectures (NUS/NTU)?
Heavy coding?
Heavy math?
✔ Career pathways?
Look at:
Employment rate
Median salary
Industry demand
If Your Results Are Lower Than Expected
Pause. Don’t panic.
You can consider:
Aptitude-Based Admissions
Related courses with similar pathways
Private universities
Overseas universities
Gap year (internship, portfolio building)
Appeal if necessary
Many successful people took unconventional paths.
Your trajectory is long-term.
A Final Message to My Students
Tomorrow is emotional.
Some of you will celebrate.
Some of you will feel disappointed.
Some of you will feel confused.
Whatever happens: Be proud of yourself for completing the challenging journey.
Your A-Level results measure performance in a specific season.
They do not measure:
Your resilience
Your work ethic
Your character
Your ability to grow
The next 3 weeks are about clarity and strategy.
If you need help interpreting your score or planning your university choices, don’t navigate this alone.
Your next chapter begins now.
And we believe in you. Feel free to reach out if you require further guidance with navigating your next step.
